Photographer’s Note
The shot was extraordinary taken on film.
This kid was playing some war games with his friends, and in a split second i got this genuine fist and a smile.
The shot was on my mind for a very long time, but since it was on film, I had to wait untill i developed it. I hate that about film...

Children are great subjects. You really capture the carefreeness in his youthful eyes. I love it. Simple, yet beautiful.

Composition wise, I think it's great. The cheeky grin, the light in his eyes and the mock fighting stance are all great. Put that together with the other boy looking off the other direction, with the shallow dof and it's really outstanding. On the technical side, the fact that you did this without PP is incredible. A new fav for me.

This is a stunning shot. The fists and the smile, opposites but they go well here. His skin has a very interesting texture and his eyes are very powerful. It works perfctly with black and white too. You waited since february to get this photo? Wow, Im happy I dont use film anymore. Instant access to my images is so awesome.

THis photo has a Sebastiao Salgado mood that I love. I also like this kind of compositions (I do it myself too) so I deeply love your photo, it has dynamism inside, joy of live, greatness... It´s good to be a child and have a all live in front of you. Congratulations Gilad, very well done.

Great capture. It's those spilt seconds that make the difference. You've captured an expression in the boy that is simply superb, but also the boy in the background who is looking in completly the other direction. I like your DOF.

Fantastically dynamic portrait, Gilad. Both heads are positioned just right. vVery nice contrast between the dour-faced boy to the left and the savage glee of the main boy. Superb! Francis

Wow...speechless...this is an amazing shot...the sharpening and the saturation are fantastic. i like the contrast between ht white and the rest of the image. For me the things that has a great impact on this picture are the fist, the smile and the eyes. these tell a story...Fantastic...Congratulations,
