Photographer’s Note
Anza Barrego Park is a great desert park north of San Diego. With the heavy rain this year, the cacti were blooming in the park. The park features an information / visitors centre which is mostly buried below these stairs. The shape of the stair railing was very interesting. Unfortunately, I didn't capture the entire railing on the left side which I regret. I was trying to be "artsy" but now I realize that I should have included the entire railing and cropped the photo later. Oh well, I'll have to visit the park again.
It was late in the day so I had to open the aperture to f2.8 to allow as much light in as possible.
Great park to visit if you ever get a chance (bring a sweater ... it gets cool in the evening!).

I certainly agree that the left railing would have helped balance the composition of this shot. But I think the effect still works, as the railing gently leads us through your frame and up the stairs. I think this is a very good effort...nicely done!

I think the angle and lines are great in this shot regardless of your disappointment with the framing. The way the right railing veers one way while the steps head the other in the foreground catches the eye.

A nice, sinuous line going up the stairs. Good post despite the lack of a complete rail on the left. Welcome to TE!

Great photo, very interesting lines here, but also textures.
Don't be too hard on yourself about the left railing, it's how we all learn to become better, by realising how things can be improved.

Nice curve line effect on you shot enhance by your perpspective. Personnaly, I think it wasn't necessary to open as much the aperture. A little more darkness would be nice too and would enhance the colors.

I really like the composition, with a nice DOF despite the low light conditions!

Amazing view Paul, looks like a railroad, I like it even if you mist a bit of the railing on the left, the effect is interesting anyway, nice work.

I like the nice, gentle curve and smooth lines in the photo. I did a small workshop to bring out a little more color.
