Hello again!
This is a lovely composition, but the photo is let down by the bad over-exposure on the doorway. Difficult I know, bright light on the walls and heavy shade under the trees. You could have taken the photo's exposure from the stone, although this would have made the trees near to sillouette, which may not have been what you were aiming for. Another idea - convert the photo to b&w, over-expose the door area even more to make it almost a shining light - a door to eternity!! Might not work, but could be fun to try!

Try these things ilisted (in order of difficulty?)
1.) A tripod for longer shutter open time (reduce blurring).
2.) You could also try a fill flash (lighten foreground area).
3.) A tighter aperature (higher f/stop number) for greater depth of field to reduce blurring (requires longer shutter open time, and increases chance of camera shake).
4.) Change the ISO, raise the ISO if the subject is too dark, lower ISO if it is too bright.
5.) Use the exposure compensation (not all cameras have this feature) and try choosing between different +/- EV exposure settings.
(Rule of thumb, positive compensation is used when the subject is darker than the background, and the reverse negative when the subject is brighter than the background. Increments are usually in 1/3 EV).
6.) Also try braketing your photos (shoot several in both directions up/down settings) from the original camera settings until you achieve the desired results in background and foreground.
I have managed to fill a subject (person) and improve the overall integrity of the background in many cases with these methods, and/or in cases while including a fill flash.
I hope this helps.
Excellent photo, other than the over exposure and slight blurring on the left most tree & ivy.
peace,
haans :)
