[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Building downtown in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Known as Treme Treme(tremble tremble) it is
set to be demolished by the cityhall and rebuilt as a housing project for the last 20 years . The project never leaves the office and now it houses around 5000 people living amidst crack dealing, prostitution and bad sanitation. It has also been condemned by urban planning zoning board as an unsafe structure for the past 15 years.

I know very little about Brasil, other than "samba" and "Rio´s carnaval". Thank you for the note. It seems like something from science fiction in an ugly and distant future. What a shame! Good picture thought.

Jorge

What a sad building Marcos. And what a lot of sad lives living and working there too. I like how isn't clear to see and also in BW. Well shown, thank you.

Bom Dia, Marcos. I like this shot, powerful cropping/framing concentrates on the meat of the matter - the HORROR that is this place, and the cynical indifference of the city planners. I don't even know if a "sharper" mage wuld help or make the image weaker...That would be m only question though. Striking! Regards, Francis in Tokyo

Its an ugly building but thats part of any urban environment. Its interesting thing though to have a vertical slum. Your photo is very raw, which brings out the feeling of despair by enhancing the ugliness of the scene. A tight crop gives no room for anything but the subject. Thats very well done.

Wow, thanks for sharing the verticle slum. On my visit to Sao Paulo, I could see everything in two months, let alone meet these people. The b/w brings out the inner cries that are common among slum life styles. Thank you...
