Photographer’s Note
Sometimes, I close my eyes and imagine I am still in Venice. I hear the gondoliers calling "Gondole!" I remember the quality of the light as it is filtered through smog and pollution, adding to the decay of the buildings suffering under the rising water. I think of the ache in my legs as I go up and down each bridge a hundred times. I marvel at each corner of the city open to discovery. I long to return.
PP: Image cropped, increased contrast, decreased highlights, converted to sepia tone.

This image looks so very old.
it shimmers and i love its textures the water and the wall have beautiful textures.
I like the framing but I would crop a little tighter on the right to eliminate the partial gondola.

Bonjour Cheryl,
La couleur sépia donne une impression d'ancienne photo.
Il est vrai que Venise ne change pas avec le temps.
Une ville magnifique bien résumée dans cette vue.
Bravo,
Dominique

Cheryl, I agree that sepia was a great choice for a classic shot like this. I also like that you went with the darker tones and contrasts. The sleek lines of the gondolas really stand out.

In this sepia-tone, it looks very romantic. Nice details and "still-life" of Venice, nice seen and done, Cheryl !

Hi Cheryl,
well stuctured with strange color view with great details and sharpness. I always like fotos from Venice, which shows the town off the 'big' places.

Hi Cheryl
Good framing of some really nice and typical Venetian details. This really does have an 'old' feel to it; there is nothing to give away that it was taken so recently! Regards, Susanna

What a wonderful and poetical note! I like to dream like that too! I imagine myself in many places too. I agree about cropping the right side. What a wonderful post-processing!

I like the line shte two boats and building creates. The sepia tone adds an olden, mysterious aspect to the photo. Nice shot!

Love the sepia on this one, it could have been shot 100 years ago.

An image that wishes I myself was there right now experiences the sites and sounds you described. The composition and post-processing add an atmosphere to the image.
Wonderful
