Photographer’s Note

Under the tree, Pohutukawa or New Zealand Christmas tree, you can see Rangitoto Island. This island lies before the coast of Auckland. Although Auckland is built on a chain of volcanoes, Rangitoto is the only one to have erupted within the period of human occupation. Maoris gave it the name, which means "bleeding skies", as a result of witnessing its convulsions. Several Maori villages were buried under its ash.

The original picture I have scanned, try to get the right colors back, and framed it.
