I tried to take a similar picture on many occasions but I could not get the bee as clear as you . How did you take this picture exactly ? It would be of great help to me .
I don't think this is a bee, it looks more like some kind of hoverfly to me. With the use of just f/2.8 this is a very good result, indeed. If you try a higher F-stop, you're likely to get better DOF. For this shot I'd probably crop some left and bottom to get the subject out of dead center.
