Photographer’s Note
This young woman is preparing greens which will be put into the stewpot for dinner. I am not sure exactly what kind of greens these are. They may be Gnetum africanum. I am not sure if they were grown in the family garden or gathered in the forest. The method of cutting them was to roll them up like a fat cigar and hold them in one hand, and then use a very sharp knife to cut the greens from the end into very fine slices.

Wow, what a great capture! I would be very uncomfortable using such a sharp knife freehand. This is a great view of daily life there, and a wonderful portrait of the pretty woman.
The lighting is perfect (dappled shade) and I like the blurring of the knife and hand.
Great post!
