Photographer’s Note
A closer view of Mont St-Hilaire and didn't missed the train this time. Last year I was not very far from the train sation and Missed it.
A little bit closer from my previous post, looks like spring is giving its first signs aruond here !
History of Mont St-Hilaire
125 million years ago:
Birth of the hills montérégiennes, of which the Saint-Hilaire mount.
1603-1606: Explorations by Samuel de Champlain and arrival of the first Europeans in the valley of Richelieu.
1745: Progressive formation of a village in the mountain
1858: Saint-Hilaire-Paroisse counts 266 families for a total of 1520 people.
1978: UNESCO recognizes the mountain like first Reserve of the Biosphere in Canada.
The mount Saint-Hilaire, higher top of the chain montérégienne, rises with 414 meters above the sea level To its ridge, we discover the lake Hertel, of 0,3 square kilometre, resulting from the erosive action and the cast iron of the glaciers which covered, at one geological time, a part of the North-American continent. The Saint-Hilaire mount was the first site of Canada to being indicated "reserve of the biosphere" because of its geological and biological composition particular.
Hope you enjoy !

Bien sur le paysage est beau, mais ce sont les poteaux en bois qui créent le dépaysement.
Une photo toute simple. Sympa;

I agree with the colleagues above. Nice contrast between modern life and nature. In comparison with the works of man, nature is however very overwhelming here. Nice shot.

Hi Pierre,
Thanks you for interesting note, nice composition, good clarity, sharpness and nice contrast, but also the depth is perfectly, the perspective because of the threads, and the beginning of the springs in the trees.
Good job!
John.

Hi Pierre,
This mountain likes a whole piece of rock. The steepness and the beauty of this rock are well captured in this picture. I like your foreground frame to this mountain showing the environment of this mountain. It is interesting that the tree colors on the two side of this photo are different. The electrical poles and trains showing the modern life brought near the million years aged rock. Nice composition, good clarity, sharpness and nice contrast. A very nice picture.

Bonsoir Pierre. A nice blend between scenic natural view and an industrial-type of subject contributed by the railway and electricity poles. Good framing and I appreciate the completely natural colors and look of this one. Interesting and informative note, too.

It is very impressive how you have filled the frame with this mountain and with tree on the right. I enjoy the industrial type view on the lower part. I think that the frame doesn't do good to your image, but it's only a minor problem. I like it, Pierre.

Bonjour Pierre
I like the repetition of the telegraph poles & the flattened perspective. Good sharpness & lighting. Tres bon!

Salut Pierre,

A bientot

Hard to image the age of that mountain - personally do I live in a Land which mostly got "created" 10000 years ago.
Thanks for sharing Pierre this image - theres a good chance it will be there a very long time in the future as well.

Bonjour Pierre, NIce composition, giving the mountain such a nice place in the frame.
TYh etrain in the end klooks very good, I'm rather fomd of trains.
I like the colors, I checked the date if it was from autumn time, but it was taken in May. Than I saw that you have the latest Nikon, the D70s, brandnew. Do you like it?

The mountain is more spectacular from this POV, Pierre, where the steep shape and rough surface is much more evident. The framing with trees in different colors, showing various progress of Spring - as well as telephone poles and railroad cars (looking just as I imagine Canadians should look) - is very nice and places the mountain in a context, but not just as a backdrop. Nice colors and a nice, slightly hazy light on the mountain indicates that this is 'a special place'. Very well done!
Interesting note, we have a mountain like this somewhere in northern Sweden, where - below the south wall - subtropical plants may be found.

An impressive shot of the mountain, Pierre. I like how it fills so much of the photo and how you have framed it on either side with the colourful trees. Thank you for the informative note. Well seen.

Salut Pierre,
Pascal

Hello Pierre. You captured this rugged scenery very well. I like the way you set your depth up too. I didn't know D70s was available quite yet. I read your note about liking the D70s feel. I agree with you 100%. I bought the D70 less than two months ago and have shot 6,300 shots in that short time! I need help, honestly I can't stop! Have fun with your new camera. Do you like that zoom lens you were using? Thanks for sharing this shot with us!

Bonjour Pierre,
