Photographer’s Note
This shot was taken on the north side of the island, which has very different scenery to the south side...including the driftwood. I found this piece interesting due to the contorted shape.

Hi! Sarah,
This image caught my eye as a thumbnail and I think it's strong point is the underlighting on the palms. It is my favourite Castaway photo so far on TE. You say you are only a beginner. I think you are all ready there. You have all the ingredients neede to caputure great photos. Of course, one would say" if you are in paradise then all about you is beautifull". You still have to be able to see it. I did a WS to lighten the sky.
Stepping back 6ft/2mtr and slight tilt upward would have given more sea/palm info and still the driftwood would be dominant.
Thank you for sharing!
Mike.

Hi Sarah,
It's amazing what you can present us with just some pieces of driftwood... this view leaves less place to the paradisiac water, but the intrigating structure of the driftwood fills the frame in a superb way, the trees providing an attractive and exotic background.
Have a nice week end,
Jean-Yves

Hi,
This is a shot with nice composition, beautiful colours, details and sharpness for the driftwood. The lighting is perfect and the coconut trees create interesting movement so one can feel the soft breeze. Beautifully captured!! Regards.

Hi Sarah,
This one is much, much better then the previous one, IMO.
Excellent beach detail with this white sand and palm trees in the BG, above left.
Some very fine shades & colour tones on the right part of driftwood, where it's contrasted to the blue sky and pristine green-blue water.
I like it a lot!
Job well done, Sarah!

Stunning. The perspective is fantastic and the colors are beautiful. Great control of what can be harsh lighting. Well done.

Your Maldives series is a joy to behold, Sarah - each additional photo increases the urge to go there and experience the place by myself. Again a fine composing job with the driftwood as a foreground interest, and a magnificent rendition of the light. The colors are pretty special, too. Very nice work.
