Photographer’s Note
Here is another photo of the canals of Gothenburg/Göteborg, the second biggest city of Sweden with about 450.000 inhabitants (but 0,8 million with all the suburbs).
Gothenburg was founded in 1619 by Gustavus the Second Adolphus as a port on the Göta river, by the west coast of Sweden. Today, it also is the biggest port to Scandinavia.
This part was choosen, because the city could be a resistance against the Danes - a big enemy of Sweden at that time, but it was also a response to the high tolls charged by the Danes for using the Sound (the water between Helsingør and Helsingborg), which was a Danish entrance to the Baltic Sea.
To make sure the city would grow rapidly, the king gave immigrants lots of priviledges. As a buisinessmand and a Calvinist, Gustav much admired the Dutch merchants and invited them to come to Gothenburg to live and trade and to help with building canals in Dutch style. But not only Dutch came, also lots of Germans, English and Scottish.
The photo is taken from a park and this street leads from central station to Avenyn, the most famous street of Gothenburg. Do you you see the statue in the middle of this photo? Here is a close up from the other side of the street.
--------------------------------------------------
About the photo: I coloured the sky a bit, because it was very white. I increased the constrast and sharpness and decreased the light a little bit. It also cropped, especially to the right.
Taken on automatic. I don't know the info about the camera, but I am going to find it out/learn in the future.

The reflection you caught here is very good. It is almost like a mirro. I have made a workshop,I just played around a bit with your photograph. Just a personal taste. Cropped it to highlight the white building and remove the grass in the foreground. Sharpened and increase the contrast. Hope you like it.

Hi Stef, a beautiful mirror shot, I like also the inclusion of the grass in the foreground which gives more depth to the image, maybe I would rather not cutoff the roof of the right building. Well done anyway!

hi stef,
the reflections make this photo all the more wonderful.i feel without it this photo would have been just another ordinary one.the left building carries a peaceful colour and the shot of the lined cars is interesting to see.i feel you could have avoided the harsh light a bit on the left part of the photo.
regards,
ravish.

Stef, terrific shot. Reflection is very pleasing, and the sharpness is superb. Way to go! Good note, too, as usual. How do you color the sky? I have been wanting to do that, don't know how.

Hi Stef, This is a very clean shot with great sharpness. I like the reflections on the water a lot. The water is so calm, looks like a mirror. You have chosen a really nice position in taking this photo. It is the corner of the block. It is also a projected center of a street. Well composed and well taken.

You captured in your photo a very nice reflection, made more beautiful by the lack of breeze to give stillness to the water also the light direction made a lot of difference.

A fantastic shot. You really show the best from Gothenburg. The Water is extremely calm so the mirror effect is stunning, you didn't post upside down I hope:). This picture you have to be proud of, cause I would have if it had been mine.
Extremely well done Stef

Interesting to see the architecture of this well know town of Sweden. The reflection of the buildings are very nice to see and it's good that I read your note to try to see the statue (not the station)... Indeed, this head is funny!
Well done, Stef!

Bonsoir Stef,

Hi Stef, very nice photo, the reflection on the calm water is fantastic and it has a very symmetric effect on the composition. Perhaps you should have left out the grass in the foreground to emphasize even more the symmetry. Nevertheless well seen and done!

Hello Stef
Nice light and incredible reflections , you were luck that there was absolutely no wind on that day. But I also enjoy the way you framed the picture and the little yellow border on the bottom, that closes the view.
