Photographer’s Note
Osoyoos lies in the interior of B.C., at the south end of the Okanagan Lake Valley. This is the premier fruit and wine area of the province. Osoyoos has the only desert in Canada, enjoys the highest temperatures, and has the warmest lakes.
Fruit growing began in the early 1900's. Cherries, plums, apricots, grapes and even bananas are grown here. The warm lake is noted for windsurfing, water-skiing, and parasailing.
There are many rattlesnakes in the hills, so hikers must be careful. Much of the desert area has been converted to vineyards as well as fruit crops as a result of extensive irrigation. This area, extending up the Okanagan Valley, supplies much of the tree fruits for Vancouver. Wines from the region, particularly white wines, are winning an increasing number of awards internationally, though the primary market is still Canada.

hi john,
a very good shot of a good place with good POV but i feel the photo lacks a bit of clarity especially the upper part of the photo(the sky and the mountains),dont you think so?i feel the composition is great and the lake has been captured well without a doubt though,i would have preferred a more close-up view of the lake with the mountains.
i have done a workshop on your photo in B&W just to enhance the clarity a bit and to remove a bit of noise.
regards,
ravish.

Hi John, This is a special place. Before seeing your picture, I did not know that there is a desert in Canada. The colorful picture has well captured the yellow desert, the green plants, the blue lake and the mountain. The blue sky with white cloud has made this picture cheerful. A very nice grand view of the special area. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Hi John. Again a very nice shot. I'm guessing this is from a scan again. I can tell it was very nice originally but some loss is to be expected. I must say that workshop is very nice but may be too contrasted. At any rate I love the colors and composition. Very impressive work John!

Bonjour John,
Une photo qui manque un peu de netteté, mais les couleurs et a beauté de ce paysage compensent largement.
C'est un panorama très bien proportionné, l'ffet d'un excellent cadrage.
Compliments.
Daniel.

I didn't know there were rattlesnakes in Canada!
I really like how the break in the clouds lit up the little hill in front of you. The colors are spectacular.
Do you ever shoot digital? It seems so many of your spectacular photos have a bit of noise that I would guess come from scanning.
Awesome post, John!

Another nice shot John;
The composition and the colors are what drew me to this photo. Most people I speak to are quite srurprised when I tell them about Canada's deserts.
I'm curious as to what type of camera you were using for some of your older shots John?
Cheers!
