Photographer’s Note

Continuing the series featuring the medieval Huniad Corvin castle in the Transylvanian city of Hunedoara (other names: Eisenmarkt, Huniadstadt, Vajdahunyad, Hunyadvar, Hunyad, Hannedeng).

This is the classic shot, the most photographed side and the most well known view of the castle Huniad. This is the sight the visitor gets right before walking onto the bridge and into the castle. It is also the first sight one gest after getting out of their car. I took the shot from the parking lot.

Unfortunately, the scaffolding that was up against the tower at that time was quite an eyesore.

To my surprise, here in Toronto, Canada, the castle has been recently featured in the new television commercials for the Budweiser beer. It as well, has been featured in a few Romanian historic movies and several documentaries on Discovery channel, mostly about Vlad the Impaler and the character he inspired, Dracula. After visiting this castle so many times, and getting accostumed to it, it never ceases to impress me.
