Photographer’s Note
One of the many ground squirrels we came across while hiking around Mt. Eilson. Ground squirrels in Denali are very protective of their property- everytime we would come close to a bush with a squirrel, it would emit a loud chip that sounded almost like a bird. This, combinded with some fierce rustling of leaves, was enough to keep us away.
