Photographer’s Note

This was taken in a poorer area of Jakarta, where a communal sort of village is built entirely on stilts, about 5 feet up from the water below. Though this guy was happy to pose for a couple of shots, he maintained his "menacing" look the whole time, perhaps for the chicken's sake. And of course the half-smoked cigarette adds to his tough image as well.

Excellent prtrait with the chicken and cigarette adding "flavour". On my screen, the image is a bit big (as most vertical TE images are) and the top and bottom of the image are cut off. I think that this cropping top and bottom would improve the focus on the tough guy and his chick.
