Photographer’s Note
Walking on the fantastic dunes of Lençóis Maranhenses.
"Lençóis Maranhenses comprises a fantastic area of sand dunes extending for 62 miles/100 km along the coast of Maranhão and for 18 miles/30 km towards the hinterland, creating one of the most unique and surreal landscapes in the world. Within this vast area, green oases covered with buriti palms are home to a small population of nomadic people who make a living by fishing and farming cattle.
The desert landscape becomes even more beautiful from May to September, when several pools of transparent blue rainwater appear amongst the dunes.

Good graphic image, POV and colours are fine, would some more contrast add some punch to the shot?

Its an amazing opportunity to be able to get a photo like this- with only one person's footprints for such a distance. It's really good, like something out of a film :)

Nice light and colours. I agree that you probably could gain from adding some contrast, but your material here is great.
Thanks,

Hi Christiane, you've got a very nice photograh here. Like it a lot. The footsteps and the little figure at the end are indeed pretty symbolic.
Love the wrinkles in the sand.

Parabens por issa muito buonita foto ! There's a very special mood in this picture. The title fits the topic very well as it looks like the girl is going away, while leaving the other person alone, at the bottom of the hill.
Anyway, it might sound weird, but before going to Brazil in january and february, I had looked at all your pictures of some of them made me feel like visiting these places. Especially the one of Janela do Ceu in Ibitopoca. I couldn't go there this time, but sure I will go there someday. The same applies to the dunes near Lençois. Thanks again for all your very beautiful pictures !

My daughter spotted this one, but I think it's such a well thought out clever compo, that you may as well have big smiley's from both of us.

Hi Christiane, this is a picture with a good story. The line of footsteps is an obvious way of leading the viewer into such a picture. The low lighting picks out the texture of the sand, but I think it would make more impact if it had been brighter - perhaps increasing the contrast using levels might help. As for the composition I wonder whether cropping the right side would help, by removing the clump of grass which seems an unnecessary distraction and giving greater focus to the disappearing figure.
You might also want to consider adding it to the footsteps theme.

A very very good compo, Christiane, of this beautiful desert scene. I like the zigzagged tracks and the ripples on the dunes. The small woman's figur is a great punchline for this great work. Very well done.

beautiful pure landscape. I like the camel footstep on the sand and the texture of it, with the little waves.
I like the addition of the person in the background.too bad the quality of the image is not so good, maybe you should post in jpg format file.

Mind boggling perspective with those prints leading all the way to the top, and there, a tiny lonely figure. Echoes of the great desert scenes in the film, Lawrence of Arabia.
The tuft of grass on the right is very important as it serves as a counterpoint to the man at the top. WOW!
Warm greetings, Francis

Nice composition. The title goes very well too. I just found that the trace is too centered. I will prefer to see it from a corner...
Well done Christiane
