the largest underground cistern.. built in 532 [when istanbul was costantinople] for solving the water supply problem.. the water was used for the "great palace" [in justinian time], and after the conquest for the garden of "topkapi palace" [house of the ottoman dynasty]..
140 meters long and 70 meters wide. The twelve rows of 28 columns each. it was restored in 1980..
