Photographer’s Note
Rovos Rail provides luxury rail trips from Pretoria to Cape Town hauled by steam at the beginning and end of the trip and using old rolling stock. Unfortunately, there are no fuel & water facilities on the rest of the line, so they use a diesel loco most of the time. This champagne breakfast trip is out of my price range, but I was readily given permission to take pics. Only problem was that I arrived in a typical Pretoria thunderstorm, so my ISO 50 Agfa slide film was a bit slow - and my tripod was a little light for the gusty conditions.
