Even when digging sewer drains for 50 Rupees a day, this lady found the humor and energy for a smile. She probably wondered why anyone would bother with the picture.

A beautiful title to match an unparalleled smile. Indeed it is interesting to watch how good humored many of them are despite their back-breaking labor for survival. A great take from an excellent angle. Great color. I do wish it were possible to get a slightly more frontal view, though this has its charm in not revealing all but the most essential.

The perspective reveals strong arms and hands, but the smile reveals a wonderful woman, who, as you say, has energy and humor. Well done.

this is a very nice shot. She looks like a diamond in the mud! I loved the ladys smile, and her strong hands. its quite sad ironically ..I am not so sure of the angle of the view, but still a very good shot.

The arm is a bit too big with the perspective, but I like this picture.

Great shot Caleb - in Bhavnagar I felt like the attention from the women on the building site down the road was like the equivalent of builders wolf whistling women here - I seemed to have a cheeky 'at a distance' relationship with them whenever I passed. India is so full of human diamonds! A beautiful picture.

She really makes it look like carrying this heavy weight is easy, and some fun as well - in reality it cannot be so..
It has always seemed to me that people in India are generally happy regardless what hardships life has dealt them (in deep contrast to where I live), and I think partly this is why I like India so much.
Anyway... great photo with a good composition. The light is maybe not quite perfect, with the subjects face a little dark, and the background a little bright.
