Googling for information about Flatiron Buildings I found the Columbus Tower in San Francisco. I couldn’t remember I took picture of this building but after examine my San Francisco map I saw the building in a series of picture I took of the Transamerica Pyramid. The green building on the right side of the pyramid is the Columbus Tower, one of the flatiron-style buildings in SF.
I hope to make more and better photos in the summer of 2017.
The Transamerica Pyramid is the tallest skyscraper in the San Francisco skyline. The building no longer houses the headquarters of the Transamerica Corporation, which moved its U.S. headquarters to Baltimore, Maryland, but it is still associated with the company and is depicted in the company's logo.
Designed by architect William Pereira and built by Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company, at 853 ft (260 m), on completion in 1972 it was the eighth tallest building in the world.

Columbus Tower, also known as the Sentinel Building is a mixed-used building in San Francisco, California, completed in 1907. The distinctive copper-green Flatiron style structure is bounded by Columbus Avenue, Kearny Street and Jackson Street, straddling the North Beach, Chinatown, and Financial districts of the city. Much of the building is occupied by film studio American Zoetrope, and the ground floor houses a cafe named after the company. Architect Salfield & Kohlberg (wikipedia)

Bonjour, cher ami Rob,

Found a superior POV, Rob, and managed a view from street level up to its top.
The surrounding buildings are no-less beautiful from the main subject here, all shown in fine clear details.

This flatiron building seems rather squeezed out by its neighbours. It's a pity because the distinctive architecture is pleasing and has much merit, much more so than the Pyramid in my opinion. The green cladding (presumably copper) looks very attractive under this light. Excellent capture of this busy urban scene, well realised.

This one I know :) a real icon of the city and a beautiful tower. I like this perspective very much, taking in the ground street level gives a perfect sense of scale and a great sense of activity and energy. Great addition to the series

It is a nice part of your flat iron series, even though the flat iron is not the dominant part of the picture this time. :)

This little flatiron with its nice green details is a really cute building, and it's amusing that you captured it by coincidence when taking a photo of something else. What a nice bonus. Both buildings stand out as landmarks of different eras and very different styles, and they are both worth a good look, although the Transamerica Pyramid makes me think of a future as imagined in a dystopian movie.

Great view of downtown SFO, the Transamerica pyramid is such an iconic building and a great way finder throughout the town. The flat iron building of the Columbus tower is dwarfed against the imaticulate structure of the pyramid.
have a great day

Your shot enables us to appreciate the impressive scale of this iconic building and the mixed architecture beside it. Nicely captured !

Once again, I had no idea of this unusual building's existence. So once again, thank you. It is just what this site is all about. I love the sharpness and contrast. The building looks very much three dimensional in the photo, thanks to your skill and the composition. Nice work, and great note. Thanks for sharing, have a great day

The smaller buildings are framing well the bigger one. The point of view is showing the details of the architecture of the Transamerica Pyramid building. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colours. Have a nice day.

Another very curious building.
Good frame and colors.
Nice sunday afternoon.

Vele groeten, Paul

When I was first looking at this photo I almost missed the Flatiron! It's so small compared to the Transamerica Pyramid, and the larger building has such an interesting base. I never realized that the base was so tall. Columbus Tower is a very charming building, and I like the green color, too. Nice POV of both buildings, looking down the street towards them.

Truly beautiful picture!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, vertical format, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,

Interesting modern building, shot from a good angle. And showing nice details. Congratulations!
gervaso (16857) 2016-12-21 2:11
Interesting shape of this building, it looks like the inspiration comes from the Egyptian Pyramids! The framing is very nice to show it, and the colors and sharpness are perfect! Wonderful composition!
