Back in early 2005, when I had been a member of TE for about six weeks, I posted a photo of the tower of the Hilversum Town Hall. I visited the place again the day before yesterday, and although I nowadays live much closer, some 5 km, to Hilversum and visit the city regularly, this time I had also brought my camera.
Raadhuis Hilversum (Hilversum Town Hall) is one of the most famous town halls in The Netherlands, thanks to its design by architect Willem Marinus Dudok. It was completed in 1931. Hilversum is the largest city in the region called Het Gooi with a little over 86,000 inhabitants. It is often called “media city”, as it is main centre for radio and TV broadcasting in The Netherlands.

I jumped to your old picture of course. This version is better but nice to see old pictures old critics done by people that are no longer here. Only Rob is still here (but then he wrote in English). Splendid modern architecture, so simple, with no decorations at all, only straight lines. superb presentation.
5 km, what funny distances you have in Holland.
Warm regrads Malgo
WArm regards Malgo

Bonjour, cher ami Lars,

Good morning Lars,
This is rather not the usual type of cityhall buildings we see in Europe - it has modern outlines and seems to be a factory not an official building.
But, it has water around, flowers and green grass.
Tech.details well collected, as always.

When I was a little boy, one of the names on the dial of the family radio was Hilversum; I always used to wonder where it was and what it was like. Now grown up I now know slightly more about the world:-) Fine capture of this Town Hall, which is a prime example of ninety-thirties architecture. Your point of view is well chosen to show us the rather austere lines. The image is very well exposed and has superb colours and clarity.

What a cool building, it has a very unique design and style and I would not recognise this as a town hall. To me it has the look of a mental asylum, but I think that's more to do with the style than the structure. the combination of light and shadows is fantastic and the sky is just beautiful. Great photo of a very interesting building

Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Prettige dag verder,

The space in front of the building is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the town hall. I like the effect of the sun light on the colors. Have a nice day.

Either you have improved your skills considerably in 10 years, or you have a much better camera - probably both - because this is a far better photo than the last one. You found a better angle and the light and colours are also much improved. Apart from the good view of the elegantly designed building we also get a fine red diagonal and green areas left and right. I remember my childhood's large radios where Hilversum was one of the exotic places where we sometimes could hear voices breaking through the disturbances.

The pale, buttery colored yellow facade of the building contrasts well with the blue tones of the sky. Good sharpness and well framed & composed with no wasted space. I like the repetition of the red flowers. The modernist clocktower makes a fine focal point. Nice reflections in the water. Tfs!

the construction is presented again from you, with your experience as photographer to be proven after the passing by οφ eleven years, and i can say that the result is awesome.
Excellent presentation of Raadhuis Hilversum with the details and the light and the colour management to are captured superb.
Royaldevon (43325) 2016-06-03 14:31
It is an interesting, angular building and certainly one that excites a photographer but it does not immediately look like a town hall, perhaps more like a well positioned factory, owned by someone who puts cleanliness and the environment at the top of his list.
The sunlight really lifts the facing wall of the building, creating strong contrasts with the other areas.
My warm regards,
carlo62 (54900) 2016-06-03 14:50
jmdias (68615) 2016-06-03 17:06
curious how the shapes of this buildings remind me the shapes of a modernist church of a town near of mine. nice angle catching well these details and the aspect of this architecture. TFS.
rychem (42552) 2016-06-03 21:52
A very original town hall, it seems to be built of different boxes and the result is very nice, excellent photo
fabianoleite (11971) 2016-06-04 12:53
Nice square shapes, very neat and with a nice garden, all very well balanced. Good work, congratulations!
macjake (72491) 2016-06-04 17:43
I'm certainly NO expert, but it looks so much like a building in a Scandanavian Style...no?
its just so...BLOCK LIKE, I feel I can purchase this Town Hall at IKEA haha
whatever the case may be, its a fine photo.
really like the light/shadow combinations and the overall colour tones/contrasts. looks great

Hello dear Lars and have a nice time and a happy
new day Sunday
simple but nice pretty and interesting
I love the simple architectural details
because the beauty is into
ourania (51079) 2016-06-06 11:37
this building is very impressive, it seems to have been designed according to the principles of Rationalist architecture (the time of its construction supports this impression too). Several samples of this style, desingned in the same period by Italian architects, can be found, of all places, in Lakki, Leros. You did an excellent work on this presentation, your point of view emphasizes the grandeur and the angles of the town hall, offers us pleasing light and colour variations, adorns the view with lovely red flowers. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
BennyV (20455) 2016-06-24 5:38
Mooie architectuurfoto, Lars. Knap werk!
mcmtanyel (28962) 2016-08-02 21:08
Before reading your note, I thought this was the power generator section of a dam. It's a really intriguing town hall. The red flowers on the walls add a pleasant contrast.
