Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken on a steam train ride from Boucieu-le-Roi to Tournon, part of the entertainment for a river cruise on the Rhone. The views from the train were spectacular, but this photo of a working fireman summed up a perfect day.

welcome to a great learning arena. This is a great photo it is just a bit too small. I really like the way you have handled the steam and the light. The man's posture is wonderful, it gives the idea that he has been doing this for a very long time and that he loves what he does. Great composition too.
Welcome...

Hi Lois - this is great - a wonderful composition - the light is a little blown on the right but the revealation of the figure in the top left through the steam works really well. Go and have a look at my steam engine post of a couple of posts ago - the same device was used in that composition - it's amazing our two posts are so close!
Welcome to TE!

Bonjour Lois and Welcome on TE!
Lovely moment you captured there. Very moody because of the steam and soft lighting, and a bit "old fashionned" atmosphere by the subject. I just regret the small size of the picture, you can go till 800 x 250 pix.
I know that neighbourhood very well as I was a student in Tournon in the sixties... :o) - [Here more about the train we used to call the Mastrou]
* Merci for the correction.

Spectacular portrait of a day-in-the-life of one who works on the rails. The profile and steam add emphasis to the importance of this inspectors job. Well done.
