Silk floss tree.Paineira in portuguese. Bombacaceae. Tree to 50 ft. with purple flowers. Spectacular 5-6 inch purple flowers. Native to Brazil and Argentina.
By the end of summer, old dying flowers can be found laying in the ground, still beautiful....
First addition to the hunt: life and death.

The concept, composition and exposure are excellent. There seems to be a little fuzziness, not sure whether that is hand-shake or motion on the part of the flower. Your camera has a great Macro ability (I used to own one).
