Pudong - Shanghai Photo

Photographer’s Note

Pudong (the newer part of Shanghai on the south bank of the river), taken from 'the Bund' (the older part of colonial Shanghai, on the north bank of the Huang Pu River).

The Pudong Oriental Pearl Tower is in the middle, & the JinMao tower is on the far right. I wanted the reflections in the river, so I've gone for a horizontal, rather than vertical format. I may post a vertical shot I took of the tower later.

The green sphere is a map of the world showing Brazil, North Africa & Europe.

WOW!

great night shot,a spacial atmosphere view,and refection add to this space,too,great POV,and very well managed the light with a bit nice misty/foggy situation which is harmonic to the atmosphere.nicely composed and very fine work.

Nice Star Trek landscape and good night photo though the Coca Cola tower brings a bit of light pollution. Framed tight, I understand your choice from the note, now I would shoot several portrait views and assemble them with a panorama software. But 3 years ago, I too wouldn't have had the idea something like this could be possible !

A Very architectural picture, i think that Night is better for this kind of picture as the light give a good effect to the buildings.

Very nice night shot, Chris, with a delightful presentation of the modernist architecture in the neon lights. The Pearl Tower certainly looks most interesting and is well framed by the surrounding highrises.

I stoot in the same place where you were standing in 1999, Chris, and I also must have a photo somewhere..though it was quite foggy then. IMO this is a very impressive tower, one of my favoites. I like the colors and the reflections, I am just sorry for the Coca-Cola sign up there, which really spoils the oriental mood.

I have never seen this tower before. Very sureal feel to it. It almost looks like a set for a futuristic movie.

Very nice night shot Chris, the buildings on the right and on the left are quite clear, less in the center, the view into the city is nice with soft reflected colors in the water, well seen.

The photos I have seen of Shanghai offers a really futuristif feel. This definitely goes along with that. I really like the right side of the image. The glass sphere, the more classically inspired building and that wavy roof linking to the bottom of the tower. The other half gives is nice too but perhaps if you had focused more on what was happening on the right it might have had a bit more of a future feel. It still is an excellent night image of this area. Very clean and sleek, especially the lighting of the tower. Well done.
