Photographer’s Note
This was taken in a silk rug factory in Shanghai. The woman is using a blade to trim off the excess silk fibers from a rug in process.
Used photoshop to change to duotone, sharpen and play with levels.

Welcome to TE Lauren. I like what you're trying to do here. You have some fine elements with which to work but the image would benefit from a much tighter composition. Too much of the image is taken up with floor and extraneous elements. The real focal point is the woman working. I've done a workshop to give you an idea of what I'm suggesting.
The key to improving your skills, and I say this as a relative novice both behind the camera and working with Photoshop, is to keep looking at photos and especially workshops done by members whose work your respect. You will learn what their thought process is in approaching an image. There are many very talented folks here who are also extremely generous with their encouragement and advice. I've enjoyed my almost ten months here. The more you invest, the more you will receive in return. Enjoy yourself!

Hi Lauren. I like the idea and also the duotone you used, even though the image seems a bit dark for my taste (losing details in the midtones and shadows). I wish I could see more of her face instead of looking at almost a silhuette. Curtis did a great workshop, cropping the negative space on the right. Nice work.

I can't sdd much to what's already been said except that I think I would crop more of the window. I like your try though.

What a good post Lauren. Thanks for sharing this. Beside all the comments that have been seen, it remains a very interesring shot and the result is more than good. Congradulations.
