Photographer's Note

A view from Hafnarhólmi looking across the entrance of Borgarfjörður eystri's harbour towards Bakkagerði village and surrounding mountains.
Hafnarhólmi is an island and well-known puffin site situated on the side of Borgarfjörður eystri's harbour. The island has been connected to the mainland to form one side of the harbour.
About 10.000 pairs of puffins nest every summer in Borgarfjörður, somewhere between the 20th of April till mid-August. Among other common bird species nesting there are the Fulmar, Kittiwake and the Eider duck.
