Unlike what happened in most cities of Brazil, Paraty was a planned city. Portuguese military engineers, aware of the port city's vocation and the need for defense of the place, would be defined as the streets and where would be the churches, squares, chain, chamber, strengths and residential areas. Followed the pattern of Portuguese cities where churches served as a beacon and hub of residential attraction.

Le regard suit naturellement la petite rue dans cette image et s'attarde aux maisons qui la bordent. Les couleurs sont belles sous cette merveilleuse lumière.

Hello Ricardo - This is a charming little street with its variety of colourful façades. The cobbled street and pavements must make for a bumpy ride on the bicycles!

Your photo matches your description perfectly and provides a very convincing depiction of the beauty from that place. It also offers a very different perception from the images we receive from Rio de Janeiro, with a colonial appeal conveyed by the architecture.
There is a strange effect happening on the left side, around the lamppost and roof edges, probably occurring while lightening up the facades and details that were on the darker side during post-processing. The eyes can't be tricked easily and we understand immediately that both sides of the street can't be equally lit. The unnatural glow that comes from it is instantly detectable.

Nice note about the town and history, and a beautiful pic. show the beautiful vivid street.
The colors mingle in abundance, DOF well collected, just missing the humen factor - maybe it was siesta time and nobody out, or football time on TV...
Bom fim de semana,

i can see why you wanted to capture this colorful and cultural scene.
Look at all of those colored arches on the windows and doors, very photogenic.
The white sets the tone for all the colors to shine.
excellent choice with the long perspective lines. Well shot.

This is a lovely image from Paraty. The composition is excellent with the street leading the eye all the way to the ocean, forming perspective lines and with careful framing. The colors are lively and the DOF is just right. Congratulations & TFS.

A neat and cute row of old historic houses - it makes me feel like I've had a chance to look at real life and experience the atmosphere of yester years and one thing that comes to mind looking at this: striking bright colours and brilliant light. It's a clever way to drag viewers into this beautiful capture, a well organised layout taken from an impressive viewpoint lends such good depth and perspective. Great work well put together, tfs

Ricardo, you suggested to me to visit Paraty but when I visited Ilha Grande it was 2 more hours further and out of our way...I guess..I have to come back..
I love your picture for its traditional and very picturesque look, for the bright and happy colors, for the magnificent architecture and for the extraordinary point of view!!
it is hard to live Brasil....

a friend of mine paints cityscapes from Leros and other islands and the colours and atmosphere of your photo reminds me of his paintings. I like very much the bold and bright colours as well as the mild shadows. Your composition is very attractive too, a wonderful way to introduce us to this picturesque scenery. Superb perspective and much interest added with every step ahead, thanks to the fine details. The blue sky sets off the setting most effectively. I enjoy very much the view through the open door and the bicycle at the beginning of the perspective. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great Sunday,
