I guess this is another perfect example of taking things for granted.
In my previous Tulip photo many of you mentioned how strange it was to see tulip fields with mountains. I guess in Holland and Belgium it's mostly flat open fields.
Here on the west coast of Canada its very mountainous, and because we see mountains everyday it just seems so natural to me.
I see mountains and volcanoes everyday even driving to work, I see mountains out of my window at home, I see mountains even when I photograph tulips! :)
Guess this isn't such a bad place to live after all!
Having said all of that I wanted to make sure I posted a photo with the mountains squarely in the bg.
Hope you like it, my next tulip photo will be a bit different.
thanks for looking

dear Canadian friend a very beautiful image with great field of the tulips in the foreground and great mountain in the background under the fantastic sky with the clouds
SnapRJW (31629) 2014-04-28 6:50
Beautiful Craig. Again the soft, diffuse light gives the shot a marvellous quality and that mountain landscape makes a super backdrop to the field of tulips.
photoray (13725) 2014-04-28 7:16
Yes indeed the majestic British Columbia mountains create a fine background for your scene of immense and colorful tulip blooms flowing from the foreground.
Thanks for sharing,

I like the rows of colorful tulips and the mountains in the background, but what really grabs me in this photo are the clouds. They seem so alive and dynamic. I only get to see tiny bunches of tulips around the city, so large fields with any background are great. :-) Love the depth and colors in this shot.
adramad (42015) 2014-04-28 8:15
Stunning beauty of this composition, the tulip fields, which are lost in the distance are wonderful, mountain as background, is a great view, rounded by the dramatic sky, great POV chosen, congratulations.
Very well balanced lighting and very good sharpness.
Well done. I really like the color depth.
Wish you a very nice week.
saxo042 (37730) 2014-04-28 8:19
Tulip season all over the northern hemisphere. The mountains provide a good clue of you might guess where this is could be. Clearly not in Holland. By the way, I heard the the highest point in Holland is far below the lowest point of Switzerland... But a fine picture and the tulips look the same as in Holland.
timecapturer (49288) 2014-04-28 8:21
never imagined Canada as a place for Tulips and quite rightly in a mountainous setting they look amazing. Gloriously enticing perspective and captured beautifully.
Enjoy a good week - B.

Ciao e buona settimana

it looks as if someone has photoshoped a Dutch field with some mountains in the back. So unexpected. I like it very much. Funny effect with the wide angle distorting the flowers at the edges but the wide angle makes the landscape so attractive! You had a wonderful sky with perfect clouds and some blue sky appearing between them. Very dynamic composition.
carlo62 (41265) 2014-04-28 9:04

Hi Craig, very good photograph of this beautiful and interesting composition with the beautiful field of tulips, very well captured in this interesting image with good framing, sharpness, beautiful light, color and quality. Excellent and interesting job well done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.
Good evening and happy start to the week.
Warm greetings from southern Spain.
ikeharel (65205) 2014-04-28 10:34
Strait lines furrows created enhanced depth on the image, Craig.
Vivid multi-colors rendered superbly.
There is a notable difference from the Holland Tulips fields and British-Columbia scenery: the mountains on far - whereas flat-land Belgium & the Netherland area not seen such landscape. Great sky & clouds aloft.
Charming, yet impressive.
ourania (38952) 2014-04-28 10:55
taking things for granted I always think of landscapes with the sea as a main element or at least lying somewhere in the background. Thinking about tulips and the sea I remembered you had once posted a picture of tulips near a quay. This picture is so spectacular and rewarding in terms of dynamism, interest and colour. The clouds and the light give a particular charm to this scene, the peaceful fields look so vibrant. The frame is filled in an elegant way. A detail I'm fond of is the two pink tulips standing out on the left. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

samson (1355) 2014-04-28 11:09
What a beauty. Tulips with or without the mountains in the background remain a beautiful sight. And yes, tulips are making their way into many countries as a crowd favourite, including China.
papagolf21 (93166) 2014-04-28 11:26
Bonsoir, cher Craig,

Lovely perspective ! That picture is full of nice colours. The flowers strongly contrast with the dark mountains in the background and make a beautiful llandscape.

A grand landscape under the wonderful sky and what a marvelous combination on the ground! packed by vividness of brilliant colours and detail collaborated with a glorious day's sunshine.

Wow we, Craig,
This is stunning, love your Pov, down the row of these beautiful Tulips and on to the landscape.
An unusual one for you, fantastic, well done.
CLODO (33014) 2014-04-28 23:54
Good morning Craig
good use of the super wide angle to get a stunning tulips field perspective leading to the mountains in the BG, the dotted sky is also very interesting.
emka (89373) 2014-04-28 23:56
Hi Craig, How lucky guy you are! You have mountains around every time you want, you have sea, maybe weather is not the best. And poor me, hundred kilometers to the sea or mountains, and in the opposite directions. So what to do? I must travel :). Here the mountains are not so important, The tulip fileds are magnificent. Stunning shot.

I guess one can never tire of these pictures. The vibrant colors of the flowers are in here definitely the most eye catching factor, but I also like the background. The green mountains add very much to the image especially at this perfect sharpness which allows to enjoy the landscape up to the horizon.
Very good depth, contrast and well managed light.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day
Royaldevon (34735) 2014-04-29 0:46
My first thoughts were echoed by your notes. Yes, very strange to see such an abundance of tulips, wonderfully portrayed in straight lines, with mountains as a backdrop.
Great composition and colours that just leap off the screen.
The sky is an important element in this fine all round shot.
Have a great day,

Shadows on mountains are fine.
fotka (4071) 2014-04-29 4:53
A few days ago I made critique to similar photo posted by John (jhm). So look like not only Holland is famous for tulips fields.
I like the composition of straight lines of flowers leading do the mountains on the horizon. The beautiful sky above completed this gorgeous picture.
Well done, congratulations!
rigoletto (34279) 2014-04-29 5:30
tulipification of british columbian mountains would, yes, be something unexpected for people of this side of the world. so springful, so wide, so nice.
mjw364 (2) 2014-04-29 5:47
Or should I say John (JHM) - such tulip fields with the linear persepctive and vanishing point are his bag!
Great sky and great composition - an excellent shot.
rogerl (1616) 2014-04-29 6:31
Craig, this is just a gorgeous shot; not only the mountains, but the incredible colors both above and below, and the lines of flowers stretching out into the distance. Wonderful sharpness, even at a relatively low f-stop. Looks like this was just before the rains rolled in! Thanks.

You summarised the charm of this shot well on your note. It is beautiful landscape where one would not expect tulips. Sky is impressive too and givin it plenty of space adds originality to framing.
