As some of the comments to my previous post of the koranic school of Ben Youssouf in Marrakesh suggested, here is my version of the head on shot of the intricately carved and decorated portal of the Medersa. The unbelievable strong light proved to be a big challenge in this place as contrasts between sun and shadows where very harsh

This is a cool result too, and once again the darkened door looks inviting and ominous. The light does look like it is very powerful, so very nicely done to have dealt with it so well, and retained such beautiful detail across this whole image. Wonderful symmetry.
The water in the foreground is really nicely done too. Great shot, thanks again

Ciao e buona domenica

I like the framing in here which includes in the composition not only the door but a bit of the pool in front of it. It reflects the colors of the mosaic and adds very much to the image. Very fine art work and decorative details which surround the door make it very special and beautiful. Nice colors and very well given sharpness.
Thanks for sharing and all the best

Another nice shot of the Medersa ben Youssouf. The symmetry leads our eyes to each detail of the door.

a beautiful entrance this and captured exquisitely. So much amazing and intricate detail to look at here. Also like the fg reflections that add that little something extra to the compositional elegance. Excellent!
Enjoy a good week - B.

ta photo précédente était très bien réalisée et là, ton format vertical, symétrique nous donne un aperçu encore plus proche avec de jolis détails et reflets, cette mosaique superbe et cette couleur du mur et architecture remarquables

Great shot of this beautiful facade, the water surface with reflections goes so well with the rest of the image.
You managed what you say was difficult lighting situation very well.

Salut cher Daniel
Ahh I am living vicariously through your photos. This country is for me a dream to see. I love the Moorish architecture and this photo illustrates that so beautifully. Amazing colours, textures and reflections. What an amazing edifice, and how beautifully you have handled the strong light. Congratulations, dear friend, a very enjoyable series of photos.

I've been going back and forth between this and your previous image, trying to decide which one to comment on this evening.....guess which one wins? :) Tough call, they're both great! The big arch contained within the rectangular frame finally won out, I really like the big, bold shapes within this particular composition. Amazing detail throughout, with earthy tones and subdued colors...my eyes are enjoying scanning over every little intricate detail. A well planned and balanced photo, presented with care and precision. Enjoy the new day ahead. All the best.
Friendly wishes from the desert Southwest,

I didn't think about this POV when I visited this place a few months ago. Very good idea and you perfectly achieved it. Good colours, good sharpness, perfect symetry.
