Photographer's Note

The so-called "Battle of the Ebro" took place in the southern regions of Tarragona (Catalonia) between 25/07/1936 and 16/11/1936. For four months the fighting occurred that ultimately decided the fate of the Spanish civil war and the victory of the so-called "national forces" commanded by General Franco coup.
Corbera de Ebro was a peaceful farming village that had the misfortune to be in the fire of the two warring parties and guessed that this would not be affected by multiple bombings that ended completely devastating the population. The destruction was complete, and comparable only to that faced by populations Belchite or Gernika.
After the war, Corbera de Ebro was rebuilt elsewhere, leaving the older population as a monument to remind people what they must never be repeated again.
