Photographer’s Note
Waiho River emmerges from the meltwater of the Franz Josef Glacier, in the Southern Alps of New Zealands' South Island. Taken through a perplex window about 4.30 pm from a light plane that actually lands on the glacier.
In the distance is the coastline & the Tasman Sea.

I can't help thinking about Lord of the Rings when I see these New Zealand shots of your. THe scenery is really quite striking and unique. This looks like a fantasy, and nicely set against the light.

An impressive landscape and view on the glacier. Only after a while we realize the size of the thing and than we realize how massive it is! Good placement of the horizon and use of the curve made by the glacier.

Oh - I like this landscape - almost unreal - that river looks very special indeed - The fine colours of the sunset gives a certain atmosphere - thanks Chris for bringing us around this place.

What a view! This is an incredible scene. So much different on the two side of the river banks. Without seeing it, it is hard to believe that the river is getting narrower when it approaches to the sea.
Very nice shot.

Very nice aerial view of the glacial runoff, Chris. The water patterns in the afternoon light make an amazing graphical pattern amidst the pristine seaside landscape. Good result for a shot taken from the plane.

This glacier looks almost alive and flowing with the white veins and the mud-color. The color of the Tasman sea and the sky are contrastic but harmonic at the same time. Beautiful shot, Chris.

A great landscape shot, Chris. The wayward and bright flow of the river is really a wonderful sight from above, it contrasts well with the green surroundings. It's nice to see how the river is connected to it's final destination, the sea. Thanks for sharing, and good work; it isn't easy taking shots from a plane. rgds.

Chris, Unusual photo here of the ribbon effect in these rivers across the Canterbury plain. Very effective how you have got the reflection off the water just right to give this wonderful effect. Great part of the world. TFS.
