This is a shot of some graffiti on an old cash and carry store in Dublin's Chancery street in the North inner city, near to the Four Courts.
I spotted this while travelling into the city on the Luas tram, and in this somewhat rundown area there are some really creative graffiti works on the abandoned buildings.
I dedicate the picture to Gueguel Miguel who has some brilliant shots in his gallery of the graffiti in Dublin. It was only after viewing these that I wanted to keep my eyes a little more open to try and spot some of these works, and that was what led me to notice this quite large one! When I was back in the area on foot I made a point of snapping it. Cheers Miguel.
thanks for looking.

Ciao e buona serata

This is a super shot Noel and is spot on as to showing some of the graffiti in Dublin. Take a wander down by the Hanover Dock where you can see a few pieces remaining outside U2's studio. The colours of the buildings are so much like the old pub I posted and are colours I shall associate with 'old Dublin' for evermore. The graffiti itself is well executed and to my eyes charming. Top shot! It makes me want to fly right back ;)
Take care and warm regards Rosemary

a wonderful photo dedicated to Miguel after all the work he's done presenting us the fascinating graffitti of Dublin. I absolutely love the rewarding composition that has excluded, though, people, cars and any distracting elements. Sharpness and light management are excellent and there's an agreeable sense of space too. I like very much how you've placed the portrait in the middle of the frame, creating a sort of intensity and rendering all the surrounding elements, colours and words significant, like keys to an interpretation. Superb work, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

Thought I'd sneak one more comment in while at work today, and much like Serghei's picture, this one stood out from the crowd! What a bright and colorful shot this is, and isn't it amazing what our eyes get opened up to through inspiration from others?
It may be a scene without any movement or life per se, but it's surely an eye-catching and beautiful piece of urban artwork. A wonderful composition detailing the bold subject, but wisely allowing for its surrounding space for placement and context. I've missed a lot in the last couple of weeks, so it's time to get caught up! :) Take it easy.
Cheers from Phoenix,

Bien vue et prise cette fresque murale, bravo à l'artiste, très belle attitude de la fille avec ces roses, de très jolies teintes bien rendues.

Your picture is so neat with pure colors.
The graffiti is very well rendered and the sharpness is excellent.

Very original graffiti with the color of the Irish flag, interesting also to watch the old abandoned building made with bricks
And you open your eyes and discover graffiti, always happens, must be attentive
Added it at the group Graffiti, thanks to your note

Cracking piece of street art this. There are some talented vandals around! I like the contrast of the purple with the green of the wall and I might have focused in on that and cropped out the orange brick which takes away from those two colours a bit. Thanks for showing us this - like it.
photoray (13719) 2013-10-01 14:49
I would call your view "Wall Art" rather than graffiti. It is excellently drawn and created, which differs it from the vandalism I am so use to seeing.
And I note there has been some vandalism graffiti on top of this masterpiece.

Excellent view to the building façade with nice painting. I like the overall arrangement by placing the painting to the centre framed by red brick walls. All in very good light.
Allow me to place here some explanations to the train on Gruyeres welcome board.
This train is not just a train, it is famous Swiss Chocolate Train.
The Swiss Chocolate Train is a joint venture of GoldenPass Services and Cailler-Nestlé. Ride in first-class comfort in a "Belle Epoque" Pullman car, vintage 1915 and/or the modern panorama car affording stunning views of the vineyards surrounding Montreux and medieval Gruyères.
Depart Montreux (on Lake Geneva) on the Swiss Riviera, ascend to Gruyères, home of the famous Gruyère cheese, and eventually continue to Broc, where the chocolate factory is situated.
On the board the modern panorama train is shown.

beautiful graffiti of this wall. This one looks beautiful. Not all of them I like it, but this one is very nice. Tfs. Wonderfully done.

Le graffiti est beau mais il est surtout très bien mis en image dans cette composition colorée très réussie.

Dear Noel, many thanks for that nice dedication I like that wonderful mural, very attractive, superb ton of green combinated to that rose-purple it gives a successful result, a brillant report, all the best, have a nice day

like this! Not a big advocate of mindless graffiti, but when it is done like this on an abandoned building it is striking, arty and quite wonderful. The setting is perfect and your capture does it full justice. Powerful and bold imagery!

Nice picture. I am not very sensitive to the graffiti, but I like this one. It is very artistic and is the only one of these walls.

bel murale, con bellissimi colori, la tua interpretazione è di gran classe ed è un vero piacere osservare la foto.

Hard to miss this Noel, what a find you've got here. Wall with messages and the woman goes together to make this a very interesting shot. Nice! Correct choice leaving everything in as shown that's how it should be photographed 'as found'. Good title too and the beauty of photography is its an art form. This is an expression of how you saw something, i especially love the rich jaw dropping colours and all the grittiness. I love it TFS, Congrats

I think of graffiti as names and logos, written without thought or respect for the buildings; this seems to be in a different class altogether; it is a subtle work of art, enhancing the run-down buildings. I wonder how this was achieved without exciting attention, as surely step ladders would have to have been used.
In this instance, I think you were perfectly right to go for a central composition. This lady's face needs to be facing the viewers, for maximum effect.
The shot is sharply exposed with well saturated colours.
My warm regards,

While graffiti might be unwelcome in more upscale neighborhoods, it can also transform rundown areas into open-air art galleries. It's like a rebirth of sorts; life coming back through all of the vibrant colors. This particular work of art is lovely, and I also like the green and red colors of the building. There is a particular area in Brooklyn that used to be extremely derelict and dangerous; currently it is being occupied by artistic people who have filled the streets with giant murals and works of art. Slowly things are changing, and a new life is blossoming where there was none before.

A real gem of a capture here. Beautiful lighting and colour of this spectacular artwork . The expression of sadness on the girls face is a result maybe of losing a loved one. The surrounding buildings put the graffiti into perfect context.
All the best

now this is something different from ghost castles:) But I have to admit it has the same spirit all over it - that lady looks so Gothic and spooky especially with that white mist surrounding her. Ireland certainly has a fascination for ghosts:) Nice capture, sharp and bright despite the subject.
macjake (62256) 2013-10-05 4:42
speaking of cool pictures, this one is totally cool man! lol
but seriously, it has that visual impact the we're all searching for in our photos.
something just grabs my attention right away .
the only thing missing is some dude standing up against the wall smoking a cigar in a cowboy hat! haha
cool place for a photo.

Superb capture, sir!
Sorry I have been away. I have been shooting quite a bit, but mostly it has been in a sculpture garden, practicing for a trip to La Paz, probably late November. As most of the "practice" shots are purely fotos of the Charles Umlauf art works, I was worried they may not meet the TOS here, so I've not been posting.
But I do keep watching and I very much enjoy this look at some great street art from Dublin! Many thanks!

What is graffiti? We have often see usual daily life hooligan's signs and signatures on the street walls. But it's just a masterpiece of street artwork. They are high brow hooligans. Outstanding composition, my compliments!

This is a very nice graffiti and a good way to decorate this old wall. I like the composition, it was a good idea to include some details around.
