This photo had just won the First prize in "I Shot it" photo competition - Premium category
This photo was taken during noon time the lighting was harsh and there are not much color in the surrounding. Hence, I decided to convert into B&W and using high contrast to show the fine details of the dead tree, the living tree in the background is a bonus.
Golden Euphrates Poplar 胡楊 the Chinese love and adore this tree for it resilience characteristic. There is a saying that this tress survive for a thousand years and it will not fall for another 1000 years and even it has fallen it will not rod for another 1000 years.
I walk around this dead before I discovered this angle the dead tree trunk look like a dinosaur feeding on the vegetation
This picture also reflect "Ying & Yang" i.e life and dead

Well spotted and composed, great idea for the title and the yin yang reference in the note is very true. Monochromatic presentation, even though dictated by the circumstances, emphasises the shape of the dead tree. The other tree looks as if it was leaning to the right scared of the "dragon".
Congrats on your competition success.
Good to see you are posting work here again, I've only recently discovered your gallery.

hello, a nice catch indeed. Well spotted the tree which is really unique. The textures of it is interesting. It seems to me that it is going to eat the tree at right. Excellent composition and wisely presented it in black and white. Tfs.
