Pictured here is the town of Msida. This lovely town has population of about 7500 and is located west of Valletta on the northeast coast of Malta.
Its name comes from an Arabic word meaning "a fisherman's dwelling". However it could also be derived from the word 'Omm Sidna' meaning 'The Mother of Our Lord' since there could have been a small chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God.
I processed this image in Photomatix,so it´s HDR.
I hope you´ll like it!

Marvelous marina scenery, under mild daylight, yet a good details of the boats and masts - with a fine reflection on water.
The church on waterfront is an eyes catching edifice - contrst in style and appearence to it's surrounding.
Bravo for the fine shot.

wow, what a beautiful view. Love the reflection of that superb architecture in weter. Nice presentation with keeping the boat at foreground. It added depth. Excellent image quality. Very well done. Tfs.

I do like it.
The water is so realistic, it is almost palpable.
The boats, with their attractive reflections, funnel attention between their prows to the imposing building, sitting nicely on the thirds line.
People say you either love or hate Malta; I loved it!
Have a great day,

This picture has a very special quality. The colours are beautifully rendered and the reflections in the water very pleasing. The light is magical - a very well produced image.
Kind Regards, Ann

Lovely colours due no doubt to the HDR treatment. It only adds to what is a colourful and well composed image. The water seems silvery and liquid like and I can almost feel it moving as I look at it mesmerised. Love those reflections on the right as well as the church too.
What is that shadow in the immediate foregound - a boat?

A lovely view about the marina with a very lovely view about the reflections of the building in water
This makes these picture attractive.
These picture is made in high quality and lovely composition.
Colours and sharpness be superb.
Very well done, TFS.

Very picturesque capture, an iconic scene from any Maltese city or village. I wasn't here, after all 8 days are not enough...

lovey shot of this old Maltese town that is unchanged and still full of character. I visited this place over 30 years ago and it looked just like this, but obviously the yachts were not the same but I bet the beautiful fishing boats are the same. Great post processing that enhances the character all the more. Stunning!

Oh man....don't get me started on HDR again my friend!
I'll write a book here if i rant on long enough.
OK....here's my own personal take on one element of HDR.
as you know, HDR works well on some subjects, works great on some subjects, works so-so on some subjects and works horribly on others....its hard to know unless you just get out there and try it.
its just my own personal experience, but i have found hdr doesn't do well with boats that have TALL MASTS.
its all because of the masts. there tends to be an almost 'folding-like-behaviour' of the skyline. Do you see what i mean? no? yes? like a crease in a piece of paper after folding it then opening up the paper again...the paper is flat, but we can still see the crease...to me thats what happens to the sky around the tall vertical masts...
it can be corrected by moving the sliders in the photomatix, i think with the 'smoothness'? I don't have photomatix on this computer i'm working on right now so i don't know exactly.
but there is one slider that effects the look and feel of the sky...thats the one you can play around with to correct it - but it may effect the scene in other ways too...so its a bit tricky.
and for some reason, it happens only with tall vertical skinny structures....like masts, and telephone wires, railway wires in the sky, that type of thing...so i'm very wary of it
yet it doesn't effect the tops of the architecture as in your shot here, the sky is otherwise perfect. strange right?
anyways....those are my thoughts...hope i'm not too critical, i certainly don't mean to be.
just an observation i suppose.
and the hdr did its job perfectly wiht the boats on the right, their reflections, and the architecture way into the bg.
good shot all around!

a very beautiful and atmospheric view to the picturesque town across the marina. You've balanced the composition in an exquisite way taking into account even the tonal gradation in the foreground and the reflections. The masts and ropes on the right look like leaning against a soft sky, probably a very slight side effect of the hdr. But your treatment is wonderful and surely worthwhile as it brought out great details on the town and the boats, made the sense of depth more effective and enhanced the sweetness and charm of the light and the colours. Such a delightful place! Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

Its an eye catching coastal town with darker water and sky creating a superb overall contrast to the scene but there are some vivid colours to catch the eye into the image with prominent church serves as strong interest. Nice subtle use of HDR, it has really helped bring out the detail in the shadows and you have avoided the "halo" effect. The lights add a nice touch on the water surface, Indeed a pleasant shot, very well done, Congrats.

Ciao e buona serata

I can't really put my finger on one specific element here that best describes my take on this, but the balance of everything presented in this shot is inspiring. Even with the large negative space of the harbour in the immediate foreground, this has just captivated my visual senses. This is a composition that I will undoubtedly commit to memory for shooting a scene like this. I know it probably sounds overly enthusiastic, but I'm quite impressed with the overall arrangement.
I would however be tempted to crop some of the bottom portion to work this as a panoramic format, this looks great "as-is," I'm just a fan of those layouts. :) The cathedral makes for a superb focal point, you have it placed in the most optimal position to draw attention, without leaving out any other interest in the harbour itself. Amazing soft and warm light to set the mood of tranquility conveyed. At the risk of being cliche, it's a beauty! :) Have a great day ahead my friend, thanks for sharing more of this trip. Take care.
Warm regards from Az.,

Sliczne miejsce!

I love the architecture, and I love scenes of boas reflected, so for me, this is a particular beauty. The building is perfectly positioned slightly off centre, while the light is soft and very muted and very delicate. All of the flags are flying in a perfect flutter too, I would imagine this was not easy to capture like this. My eye is led across the water though the boats and up to that beautiful church which stands so proudly on the water, proud no doubt of its reflection!
Beautiful shot Krzysztof, and thank you as always for sharing.
All the best

most of all I like the glassy look of the water and the yachts on the right here, together they really make the picture. The soft color palette renders the quiet nature of the day so well. Beautiful architecture too, nice place for contemplation:)

fascinating the panoramic view of this section of the of Msida. The church in the middle dominating the port with the boats and yachts to cover every cm of it.The created reflections make the image even more effective.

very nice composition, I also like the mix of old and new, good work in edit with HDR, not invasive and with beautiful tone, the details are very good in all the arias, the cathedral is beautiful, pleasant atmosphere and the light...

I didn't visit this place which reminds me a little at Marsaxlokk.
The harbours in Malta always look very picturesque, all the more with an imposing church at the quay like we see here.
Splendid reflections of the masts and the church in the water.
Best regards, Paul
adramad (48366) 2013-09-23 11:32
A fabulous composition with this beautiful POV, which focuses our attention on the beautiful cathedral, but with the wonderful surroundings of the harbor and its many ships, the sea calm gives also the ideal reflexes that embellish this great composition.
Very good management of light and sharpness.
The colors in these tones so soft is also charming.
Have a nice day.

An excellent postcard-like photo from Malta. You have chosen a perfect point of view and composition to show the most beautiful objects of this harbor town. In addition, the light, colors and photographic qualities are very good. Nice job!

What a lovely shot of the Marina in Msida. The church serves as a strong focal point, with the colorful boats all reflected in the still waters.

I'm not a really lover of HDR, but I think your work in this photo is soft and pleasant at sight, and this give a high image quality to your composition, with a great graphical power.
The combination of the boats and the architecture of the city and of the chapel, beautifully reflected on the calm water of the port, create a gorgeous photo job.

Witaj dear Krzysztof
You are well travelled this year, what a beautiful place to take a holiday. I'm just back from my trip in Europe and miss it already.
An excellent photo and post processing. The light has been subtly managed with the impeccable post processing work. I love the soft colours and beautiful architectural details. Nice work.

The light reflecting off the water is so lovely, luminous but not harsh. It works so well with the softly-toned colour palette. A very atmospheric and dreamy shot Krzysztof. Warm regards Rosemary

This is interesting and little bit unusual composition. Good contribution to the Malta's theme, my old dream is a visit to this small country, but I think it will be not very soon. Thanks for your reports.
Have a nice weekend!
