Photographer’s Note
This is a mobile in the Washington Pavilion, a museum and performing arts center in downtown Sioux Falls. The visitor can spin it at the bottom and watch the wave move from bottom to top.

Nice shot Leonard. On a technical note, there are other ways to convert to B&W which give you more control over the final result. Desaturation works OK, but I'd suggest using a Channels adjustment layer, switching to monotone, and fiddling around with the red/green/blue levels until you get the effect you want. One point to note, for pure black and white you need to make sure that the red/green/blue total is equal to 100%, anything else will give you duotone (like a sepia effect).

This apears to be taken in a lighted box, thus the highlights. I am sure it is possible to dodge them in a photo editing programme, it distracts from the spiral pattern. I think one can lose the windowframe on the RHS by careful cropping. Intrguing pattern that draws the eye.
