Photographer's Note

Almost the end of June and the snows are just now starting to recede. Summer here is a short period of just 2 months. This was taken very near the little town of Cookcity, Montana which is the northeast entrance to Yellowstone Park. The park is located about 5 miles away from this location. These mountains were created during the last eruption of the Yellowstone caldera. This volcano deposited ash up to 40 feet deep many hundreds of miles away.
