In eastern Montana the common rock formations are predominately sandstone. These formations are referred to as rimrocks as they rim many of the valleys. This was taken on a road that goes from Hysham to Hardin, Montana along Sarpy Creek. Much of this vast part of Montana has coal underlying. In fact the coal formation is so extensive in this region it extends into Wyoming and North Dakota. I've been told that this formation contains enough energy to supply all the needs of the United States for 600 years.

This is a good look at interesting terrain, with good shadow detail and an informative note, too!
Thanks for sharing,

How stunning is this paradoxal view of greenery growing on barrenness; those trees have to make happy with scarce humidity for growing!
Quite an interesting phenomenon of nature!

Impressive sandstone rocks explained with a well written story boost the architecture. The contrasts are amazing, blue vs green. It is the perfect retreat. Well done
