Photographer's Note

American Bald Eagle on her nest, which may weigh as much as a ton. Eagles nest along the coastline of the Inside Passage during this time of year and return each year to add to their nests. They are spectacular birds, attaining a wingspan of up to 9 feet. Both mates tend the nest and feed the offspring. When ready to fledge, the parents exhort their young with shrieking calls and fly about with them. That's a wonderful thing to see.
