Hello,
I am Izzet, the Turkish Photographer As you say so well, the tower is the most famous
landmark of Florence, the Palazzo Vecchio, which is at Piazza della Signoria. This is for the information.
But there is more.. I enjoy your photo very much, because it makes me think that I am on the stage of an opera. Good composition and good exposure. Just one question, was it possible to be there a few moments before in order to catch the dark blue sky instead of the black ?

Bonjour Siu,
Magnifique perspective et jeu de couleurs sur le Palazzo Vecchio.
Il me semble que c'est la Piazza della Signora avec la Fontana di Nettuno.
A bientôt,
Jean Paul

Looks like this exposure was a second or two too long. I tried to fix it a bit in Photoshop (see workshop). Otherwise the composition is excellent and you had a good idea for the image. When I went the tower was covered with scaffolding (it looks like there's still some near the bottom). Nice work!

Great composition and exposure. I like the brightness of the buildings with the contrasting dark sky. I also like the way the buildings (which are interesting on their own) lead your eye to the tower in the background. The motion is a plus too.
I just read others comments, maybe the exposure was a little too long, but I like the detail thats under the eves.
Nice shot.

Pretty cool shot. I remember waiting in this plaza for hours to go see the art gallery. Nice capture.

Great shot: it perfectly expresses the power and strength the Medici family hoped to demonstrate in Florence; The perspective really fits the Medici's intentions.

Nice perspective composition and colours, i like the exposure you did. The exact place you.ve photographed is the "Galleria degli Uffici" Uffici is the Florence's art gallery. The tower with the clock at the background is situated at the Signoria's place (piazza).

The name of that pedestrian way (isn't a square) is Via dei Georgofili and on the right there are the Uffizi Museums.
In that small way the night of the May 26, 1993, the mafia exploded a bomb that killed 5 men and destroyed part of the Uffizi Museums.
The same night, few minutes before other mafia's bombs exploded in Milano, killing other 5 people, and in Roma.
I went last time in Firenze at the beginnings of Jauary 2005, and i shooted a very similar night picture of Via dei Georgofili, with Palazzo Vecchio! very, very similar!
great pic!
ciao
