The house in Bo Kaap district in Cape Town.
Bo-Kaap is a neighborhood in Cape Town, South Africa, that was originally settled by freed slaves brought over by the Dutch in the 17th and 18th Century. Bo-Kaap is situated on the slopes of Signal Hill, west of the City Bowl. Steep streets are lined with colorful traditional houses, painted in vibrant colors. The Cape Malay community is proudly Islamic. There are several mosques dotted around the cobbled streets and you'll see many of the locals wearing traditional dress.
Bo-Kaap was settled by the descendants of slaves brought over by the Dutch in the late 17th and 18th centuries. They originated from different parts of Southeast Asia, but were collectively referred to as "Cape Malay". Cape Malays were a mixture of political exiles, convicts, skilled craftsmen, artisans, scholars and religious leaders. The first South African Mosque was built in this area in 1794.
The Afrikaans language is thought to have developed as a lingua franca for the slaves, as well as their masters, to be able to communicate effectively. Educated Muslims were in fact the first to write texts in Afrikaans. (See: http://goafrica.about.com)

gran bello scatto, i colori fanno parte integrale della composizione, hai avuto un buon occhio nell'inquadrare.

Powerful attraction of this original composition is certainly not very common to find houses painted in red so that screaming.
White windows and railings are a nice contrast that brings graphics.
Very original and attractive POV, with optimal lighting and details.
Have a nice day.
A hug my friend, and I also hope we see anywhere in the next 7 years.

Love this photo, for a simple two color combination this is fantastic. Red dominates virtually anything, and being offset by the white is captivating. Great texture and arrangement of this isolated section of the house. Very eye-catching. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Malgo - this red is so rich and deep it looks almost like it is still wet! Nice graphic arrangement here - the white trim on the steps and windows stands out wonderfully, and I like how you've framed this. Thanks!

Hello Malgo - The distinctive look of the Bo-Kaap is so attractive and here your shot gives an idea of the colourful area and brightly painted cottages. I love the contrast of crisp white and red. Simple, graphic and attractive. Warm regards rosemary

the intense red color of the house and its strong contrast with the white elements as the balustrade or the windows, creates a beautiful image, with a good geometrical sense and a fantastic graphical quality.
A great work.

piekne zblizenie na typowy poludniowo-afrykanski dom.Kontrast jest naprawde niesamowity.Czerwien kontra biel-super zestawienie.

A composition made up of several graphical elements that come together harmoniously to make a perfect whole in the mind of the photographer and her audience. The textures and ochre tones of the background wall make a superb contrast with the whites of the architectural detail. Excellent technical presentation.
Kamilutka (6631) 2013-01-31 4:43
kapitalne zdjecie. Swietnie skadrowalas ten dom, akurat tak zeby uchwycic to co najciekawsze i najlepsze. Fantastyczny kontrast pomiedzy bialymi drzwiami i oknami a ta ciemnoczerwona sciana.

Ciao e buon pomeriggio

nicely composed shot of this colourfuil and distinctive looking house. Like the way the zigzags start in the lower right corner which naturally lead the eyes to the centre of the image.
Regards - Brian.

Intersting and beautiful, and the vases look like two eyes as in a ghost looking through the walls. Good contrast and beautiful architecture. Nice work, congratulations!

serp2000 (35764) 2013-02-01 0:20
Yes, Malgo, I like the duochrome compositions too. Good example of minimalism, perfect details of classic colonial interior. Well done! TFS!

Great shot rich colour red contrasting with the white that creaste sthe shapes. Teh number 120 providing a focal point for the eye. It reminds me of Carlo62 type shot.

Thank you Malgo for red and white. It is my favorite combination. It is like "Red Star" from Belgrade. Than, there is here an effort of owner of the house and there is your vigilance, my friend. Best continuation,

A sharp contrast highlighted with all the elegant elements and the vivid cinnamon red color reigning a classy image!
The white little "kiones" found in many Greek islands is a noticeable and very attractive detail!

The red colour is so striking! yet for me the main attraction is the combination of white & red & the strong graphic effect created by the geometric shapes. You saw this well & indeed composed well. A lovely shot!

A very good composition, specially with such combination of colours. I like the graphism and the details. The flower pots, the lamp, the number... You captured it very well!
InasiaJones (30738) 2013-02-23 13:47
Although this neighborhood is very attractive and colourful, it is difficult to capture it in a photogenic or representative manner.
So instead of trying to present it through many successive houses, I think it was a clever choice to focus on one of them. It allows to see the details and characteristics that most of them features in a way or another. The vivid colours, the white decorative elements, the balcony ramp and of course, the necessary security grid...
I like your presentation and it makes me want to go back there as soon as possible.
