[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
this gentleman, made a mistake in calibrating his time machine and ended up in the wrong century and geographical location. i caught a glimpse of him here in a seoul public ice skating rink. still he tried to make the most of it and wasn't bothered by the stares at his old fashioned clothes or classic skating style. (i posted another picture of him as a workshop, shortly after he disappeared out of sight)

normal post processing, cropped ad tilted.

Funny note. I'm not nuts about the photo though. The angle is a little extreme and the foreground people are too much in the picture. I love the subject, I just wish he weren't so hard to see.

But this is what happens when you try out different stuff. You can't please all the
people all the time, so you better please yourself!

Actually, I much prefer the workshop version... apart from the puffy jacket in the left corner, it's a pretty good composition!

Well I like the shot. It's a unique composition (I like the diagonal, and the blurred people up front work for me). It has the feel of being in the midst of the crowd and has unposed spontaneity.

The part that I wish could be changed is that guy in the blue jacket next to the skating man, he's too much in focus and is distracting. Unfortunately, his position couldn't be helped so it ain't your fault!

I personally like it and wouldn't change a thing. The guy in the is perhaps a bit distracting, but I like his suspicious look directed at you. Spaceman crammed in between OOF heads in the foreground is a great idea, and IMO it turned out very well, tilt works here very well, think it works well with him trying to balance on one leg.
Perhaps had the background behing him was less busy it could have improved the compo, but again that's beyond your control.
Peter

Interesting image. Not only the framing in diagonal is unusual and add to the dynamic of the photo, but also your use of the DOF is very creative. In fact I like the very shallow DOF in the foreground letting us peek through the people that unusual character.

I agree with Alex regarding the guy in blue. Maybe you could select it and de-saturate a bit the colors to make him more neutral.

very bizarre image it looks like one of Maciek's after a Jogjakarta mushroom omelette... there's a search for style but getting totally loony...

I think I know this character, he's the emperor HiroHito, everybody thought he was dead but he signed two important things in 45 : teh WWII capitulation and a lifelong contract with "Holiday On Ice"... (I think I'll get bashed hard by japanese members.. no please that was just a joke ;)..)

I think your image could have worked if there wasn't the two blue kids standing right in the middle, because other features have a dreamlike quality except these two who are more in the mundane "hey look at my candid" trekearth style shot.

Heheh. Very funny and clever.

Yep, that's the guy! I love this kind of "thread-the-needle" shot (tried a few myself in Vietnam). Love the pronoinced TILT revealing this skating dandy through the narrow corridor of bokeh.
Super job!
Francis
