We were crossing the Bosphorus on this "sea taxi" from Kanlıca to Emirgan. There was a lot of traffic around us; we were surrounded by these huge ships and I felt very vulnerable on this little boat. So I zoomed to one of the ships and snapped a photo of its stern.

you are right, you feel vulnerable even looking only at your picture of the passing monster. You had the good reflex to do a snapshot!
Since we are "on TE", I bring up the idea of the "Golden rule" in photography (don't worry, no dogmatism here). What do you think about my proposition in the workshop area, where I cropped the Bosporus-part to 2/3 of the picture?

Murat, like a painting..this particular color of the sea only in Bosphorus...unique and magical place...can't stay long away from it..

Big vessel wake on the Marmara, "broke" the patten of the calm & stunning blue water, Murat.
a bit higher POV would whow more of the ship stern, but anyway, showed the strength of the powerfull engine, and in contrast - the beauty of the waterfront mansions.
