The Native Americans called this lake "The Lake of the Shining Rocks'. Here we see a view of Tenaya Lake, located along the Tioga Road, in the front country between Yosemite Valley and Tuolemne Meadows. This lake is a gorgeous alpine lake in Yosemite National Park and is at an elevation of 8,150 (2,484m.). The lake was named after Chief Tenaya, founder of the Pai-Ute colony in Ah-wah-ne (Yosemite). The lake is surrounded by granite domes and lodgepole pine forests. In the upper right corner of the photo one can see the pine forest and it is here along the lake that one can hike a one mile trail through the forest that will lead from one end of the lake to the other.
This area was created by the Tenaya Glacier that flowed out of the Tuolemne Ice Sheet and down into the valley. The lake is supplied by numerous creeks and is basically an outflow of the Cathedral Lakes area(wikipedia).
I hiked the trail around the lake and took several photos along the way. I like this photo the best because it has a reflection and shows the blue color of the lake quite well. The sky was really that blue that day and without a single cloud.
Any comments are most welcome.
Please enjoy my photo.

You took a great point of view: the branch in
the water (and the stones) on the forground
creates a nice depth in the picture.
Composition (I like the open space) is also
great: it makes the picture nice calmness.

you offer us here a grand landscape, which preserves its wild natural beauty and which does not seem to be spoilt because of the hand of the men.
I like the structure of your composition, by means of an effective framing with the mountains and its reflections on the precious lake, that looks like a mirror. Light and colors are perfectly handled.
It is a gorgeous work.

Hi dear Karen
What a spectacular landscape. The way you composed this photo is very clever. The dead trees in the water lead the eye in beautifully to the rest of the image and the mountain sems to embrace the image like a natural frame. Beautiful natural colours and superb sharpness. Thanks for sharing.
PS: When I visited Italy, I just emailed some of the Italians the dates I would be in their city. They were so friendly, sweet and generous. I met all those people in Venic, then another group in Rome and yet another group in Sicily. I've since had the pleasure of hosting 3 of them in my own house and yesterday took Gladys and Les (Jadesgran and Williewhistler) around Sydney for the day.
