The Leaning Tower of Ząbkowice Śląskie (former name "Frankenstein").
Ząbkowice Śląskie is a town in Lower Silesian Voivodeship in south-western Poland.
The Leaning Tower is one of the most amazing and interesting sights in Lower Silesia. Its beginnings can be traced back to medieval times but today it is only an observation platform. This massive structure is 34m tall and has a 2m lean from the vertical. It was probably a bastion forming part of the fortifications. The walls are 4m thick which indicates a defensive character. In the 14th century the bastion was converted into the bell tower of the St. Anne Church. The tower began leaning at the end of the 16th century as a result of tectonic plate movement in nearby Bardo recorded in 1598. The extra burden of the added section certainly increased the cause of the inclination. The Leaning Tower in Zabkowice Slaskie is an example of a free-standing Gothic bell tower. Inside the tower is a chamber which in olden times was probably a dungeon, now entirely filled with rubble.
The Tower was built from stone in lower parts and from the bricks in upper.

fascinating shot of what can only be described as an amazing structure. Superb clarity and chosen POV. I noticed the five balls on the tower, which I have only ever seen once in Spain (see my shot Cinco Bolas). A striking and extraordinary place and presentation.
Have a great week - regards Brian.

You've got me there. I didn't know there was a other leaning tower. I thought the one in Pisa was the only one. Very nice picture of yours. The nice deepness and the perfect sharpness of your picture allows us to see the details of the towers but also of every building in the street. I'm not sure I would park my car in front of that tower.
Have a nice week.
