Photographer's Note
ENGLISH: These are some fishing nets I saw in the marina of Castellammare di Stabia, situated on the Gulf of Naples. This town has been home to the oldest shipyard in the world, the Cantiere Navale founded in 1783. A majority of Stabiesi have relied on the sea to make a living. My Dad worked in the shipyard for a number of years before immigrating to Australia. He and my grandpa also owned a little fishing boat which not only literally put food on the table but also helped to supplement the family income by taking tourists out in the boat. Castellammare is again being hit by the Global Financial Crisis, which has heralded the closure of this ancient shipyard and the loss of thousands of jobs.

Hello Lisa,
Whilst this appears to be a bit of a tangle, the jumbled up nets somehow symbolises the mess our financial organisations have got themselves and the rest of us into, some of the consequences are so sad.
The complementary colours are very pleasing in a typical sea side scene.
Best regards Les +G

Ciao cara Lisa,
TFS!

Howdy CampaniaLisa,
A fine jumble of firework neting, ropes, floats, in fine resolution and colorful. A good slice of life of the classical net fishermen.
Your Dad immigrated to Oz, and mine left Wisconsin, for LALA Land. My life, when it arrived, was a lot more complicated than it would have been in Neenah, WI.
Have another wonderful weekend, and every day,
Sincerely,
Ray

Ciao cara Lisa,
Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti, buon fine settimana,
Ourania

Ciao Lisa

Ciao Lisa,
Creative shot here with all these nets. To disentangle them must be a hard work. Beautiful colours. Well seen and excellently presented.

Hello Lisa,
A superb daily life scene of the colourful fishing nets with effective tight framing & good sharpness. I like the plae orange overlapping the bg red & the shallow dof to isolate & emphasise both away from their bg. Have a nice Sunday!

Hello Lisa
Very well composed image. I suspect most would have passed this scene without a second look, let alone consider it a photographic opportunity. I like the complementary tones and the swirls of rope that hold the composition together.

Hi Lisa - I love the colours here and the tangled web of nets is very attractively textural against the darker OOF backdrop. Your note speaks to the changing and uncertain times in which we live. A muddled mess where ordinary folk are buffeted on a daily basis. The shot a good metaphor for your note. Have a great week ahead Rosemary

Hi lisa,
I admit, the first thought before opened was of a new spagetti-souce dish... funny, but if you look from a distance...
Nice close-up on nets, a labyrinth of colorful ropes.
A good idea you gave me here.
Buongiornata in Australia,
Ike

Ciao Lisa,
Just back home from a few days away, so now just catching up on the critiques.
A fascinating note (as usual) and a fine photograph which gives a lovely insight into the life of the fishermen.
Gorgeous colours and nice light and also stunning sharpness which fits well with the subject - we can just imagine how complex and painstaking must be the work to make and repair these nets - one of the less romantic (though probably one of the safest) pastimes of fishermen.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Lisa,
At first glance, I thought this was one of those shots where people play with light on long exposure :) Very interesting and eyecatching shot, and with lovely colours.
Best wishes!
Noel
