Photographer's Note
Another photo from our trip down to Worthing last weekend. Worthing is usually rather an an unremarkable seaside resort but with the right light can be a nice place to visit. The wind was blowing, one storm had past and another was soon to come - typical April showers! The sea was unusually a beautiful green and the atmosphere was very clear. Part of the beach has some rather smartly painted small fishing boats so I photographed them. Not my usual subject matter but I enjoyed taking them.

Hello Ann ,
A simple , but a striking composition , for the excellent colors and contrasts . We can feel the wind in the flags ! The only minor default is the tilt of the horizon line .

Hello Ann - An attractive composition where the orange boat is perfectly contrasted and complimented by the blue-greens of sky and sea. An departure from your usual style but well managed and composed. The horizon is a little off but easily remedied. Warm regards rosemary

Hello Ann,
Well this picture certainly ain't minimalist in any way! It jumps out of the screen and hits you between the eyes - just my kind of shot. And how could you have resisted taking it?
The colours are fabulous yet true to life and not oversaturated, the lighting and exposure are perfect and the sharpness absolutely stunning. An excellent composition too with lovely triangles and diagonals, certainly complemented by those two rather strange things sticking up from the front of the boat with tattered remains of cloth on them.
But a critique is a critique: the eagle-eyed Rosemary has already commented too - there is about a 1° or 2° clockwise rotation causing the horizon to slope to the right - but by now you will already have given yourself a good mental kicking for that! Probably, in fact (and if you're anything like me), within minutes of posting it and examining it on screen.
But, with that proviso, certainly well deserving of deux points.
Brilliant!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Ann
I like this type of compo with only half boat coming into the frame. The storm must have been quite strong, judging by the torn pieces of clothe... Excellent general quality and framing

Hi Ann, When I see Worthing I think immediately on the Wilde's The Importance of being Earnest.I suppose it was written there. My favorite play.
Very attractive composition with the eye catching red boat. Not spacially comfortable beach with small pebbles but a nice view.
Warm regrads

Hello Ann,
I see that like us you have recently had some fabulous light between the heavy showers.
The saturated contrasting colours are eye catching and very attractive.
The tattered, windblown flags add a nice sense of dynamism.
Kind regards Les.

Good Morning Ann,
The type of shot that I like: a strong f/g focal image which creates an unmistakable lead into the wider shot. It is colourful, has fine textures and the compositional lines and angles are very attractive.
Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Ann
About the only thing I can fault is the horizon line of the sea. A very minor quibble. Everything else is perfect! Good sharpness, colour, saturation, lighting contrasts, composition, graphism & framing. Superb warm cold colour contrasts too! Tfs!

Hello Ann,
The brilliant red null of the small boat makes a strong focal point. There is a slight tilt in the water that needs to be addressed, something I've been aware of since an exceptionally talented photographer on Trekearth put me down for it. Is the tilt south towards Europe or the west towards the United States?
Have a good weekend

Hello Ann,
This is a picture that takes my mind a lot further south. You could have called it Portugal or Cape Verde and I wuld have believed you. I wouldn't expect such colourful boats in England. Maybe I'm just ignorant. Very well saturated colours and excellent sharpness anyway.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Ann
Beautiful picture with this clear sky and the gradient of colors on the sea. THe light is very nice and gives wonderful colors on the boat, the deep orange standing out the grey beach is perfect.

At least it looks like the boat is in good condition even though the flags are somewhat gone. Sharp details and wonderful colors with good saturation. Very well done, tfs.

Hi dear Ann
Those fishing boats are almost reminiscent of the Mediterranean, they're lovely and so very characteristic. The strong colours contrast beautifully against the stones on the beach. The 2 flags we see at the front of the boat: are they being blown by the wind like that? If so, you had quite a breeze to contend with. As to composition, I like the inclusion of the landscape in the BG, but probably would have tried to angle my POV, getting more of the perspective of the boat. But that's just a personal taste thing. Great shot, have a lovely evening.
Warm regards
Lisa

Hi Ann,
very pretty composition with the colorful boat at the sea side.
Yes, the wind is well visible here. We have plenty of it up here. It makes ma quite often to rather stay at home... Beautiful colors with the green color of the sea and pleasant blue sky. Nice geometry too.
Very well spotted,

Bonjour
après la tempête, le beau temps est revenu; une composition lumineuse, avec cette coque de bateau amarrée , un bon cadrage latéral, et une mer turquoise et on a du mal à croire que la tempête est passée
excellente

Hello Ann
The colours exude sunny & nice warm weather. You've composed this picture well with the red boat creating a good lead-in, towards the blue sea. The tattered flags flutter in the strong wind. Well done!
I was thinking about a POV, couple of steps to the left to have the boat in a slight diagonal...whether possible or what it would look like, you'll know better
Best Regards
Angshu
