LAISSE DIRE and HERACLITUS, moored to the quay Aspirant Herbert along the Canal Royal, during the festival ESCALE à SÈTE:

_ The sloop LAISSE DIRE built in 2005, property of the association Cap au Large, can welcome the public physically handicapped person and mental, and young people in trouble.

_ The rigged in junk sailboat, HERACLITUS of the name of the Greek philosopher Héraclite d'Éphèse, is a ship of research constructed from 1973 till 1974, and launched in 1975 to Oakland in California by Institute of Ecotechnics, a non-profit private research institute.

_ It was from 6 till 9 April 2012, the second ESCALE à SÈTE, celebration of the maritime traditions in Sète with the cooperation of numerous boats, traditional ream, lateen sails, big sailboats.

SÈTE is a French municipality, in the Hérault department of Languedoc-Roussillon region, populated by 42 496 Sétois in 2009, spread over 24.2 km², 1 756 inhabitants/km².

In 1666 Pierre-Paul Riquet built the Canal du Midi connecting the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean, following the will of king de France Louis XIV, creates the port of “Cette”.
The construction of the môle Saint-Louis, 750 meters length, begins on July 29th, 1666.

The city was founded in 1673, after the beginning of the construction of the port.

It is the town of artists like Paul Valéry, Georges Brassens, Manitas de Plata, Jean Vilar, the brothers Di Rosa.

Georges Charles Brassens, french poet song writer and performer, was born in Sète on October 22nd, 1921, and died in Saint-Gély-of-Fesc, Herault, on October 29th, 1981.

Salut Joel,avant de lire les notes,j'avais pense' a une photo prise a Copenague..ehehe....vraiment merveilleuse cette large prise de vue,le parfait moment avec la lumiere qui baise les couleurs des facades,et un excellent ciel aussi.Details et gestione de la lumiere tres professionels.Mes compliments et belle journee',Luciano

Hello Joel,
Quite a few ships with tall masts around but the red one stands out. The falling light on the left side bldgs and ships separates the right side. The blue sky gives the ambience to the photo, but the little boat on the canal is the best.Tfs

Je vois que le beau temps est finalement de retour ;)
La rive semble animée, les rayons du soleil qui éclairent bien les maisons & bateaux ont donné de plaisantes couleurs. Un bon timing sur la barque bien positionnée dans le cadre.
Sympa l'escale à Sète!

La composition s'apparente à une superbe peinture.
Le cadrage est très bien pensé. La présence de cette petite embarcation est excellente.

Wow!! what impressive shot. A very beautiful composition and beautiful farmework as well. This place is a very lovely , the architecture, boats, so many people walking and enjoying the charming place and the weather. La longueur du canal donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs des bateaux et des immeubles. La bonne luminosité valorise les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Un titre qui intrigue , mais que l'on comprend en ouvrant la vignette .

Cette ville me fascine et j'aimerais bien trouver un petit moyen de la visiter avant de mourir, surtout pendant son festival. J'aime beaucoup l'alignement de maisons colorées sur le quai qui donne toute une profondeur à l'image.

I had created a whole story just by reading the title. This is a wonderful, deep and clear view into the canal. There's amazing perspective and sense of space and at the same time a great deal of details enrich the dynamic composition. I like very much the textures, well balanced lighting and lovely colours. Il est bien trouvé, le nom de ce bateau, en plus tu nous gratifies d'un poème de Verlaine pour l'illustrer... La photo est superbe, bien cadrée, avec juste ce qu'il faut de nuages dans le ciel et une perspective intéressante, créée par cet alignement de façades colorées.

this is one of those photo's that look larger than what it really is.
lots and lots of depth, and the expansive sky gives the same open large feeling.

very nice presentation of the moored ships and one of them as you mention ti has the name of the great Greek philosopher,Heraclitus.I like the creative perspective with the brilliant light to enhance the vivid colours of the image.Excellent work.

Ce laisse Dire et son compagnon sont très photogéniques, surtout sous cette lumière qui fait envie. Les trois photos ont leur intérêt et leur beauté mais ton post principal bénéficie de ces superbes petits nuages qui font la différence. Sète possède bien des atouts que tu sais si bien nous montrer.

Très belle profondeur avec les bateaux le long du quai, le bon moment avec l'arrivée de la barque qui ajoute un plus a la composition, sous un ciel superbe aussi, belle vue de Sète ( que je connaît :-))

Une magnifique composition de ce lieu si grand, j'aime la POV avec une belle vue sur les façades et les bateaux alignés à côté d'eux, le bateau à voile dans le petit milieu du canal, donne une belle touche.

une composition de grande beauté, sans doute.
Tu as cherché un bon cadrage pour jouer avec la perspective profonde du canal et de l'architecture de la ville aux deux bords.
Les nuages sur un ciel bleu intense ont un fort effet esthétique, dans une composition très lumineuse et attractive, avec des couleurs fantastiques.
Un beau travail.

Superb canal scene with row of grand buildings provide a good framing and off setting the low rise buildings to the right. Impressive long perspective in such a great depth with excellent focal of interests under that clean blue clouded sky. View point is excellent, the canal looks wider and you have taken advantage of the moving boat as effective focal to complete the compo. All the elements are blended in together harmoniously creating such a very striking shot that appeals to the eyes. Fine photo works.
