Both the old city of Jerusalem and Akka are the most mysterious places I have ever visited, but Jerusalem it was positively haunting. In both places there was no indication of the life behind the doors but Akka was sunny, even in its alleys. In jerusalem most of the so called streets were partially covered so even at noon it was dark and moody unless suddenly you walked out into a square.
This is the partner photo of one I posted a couple of years before. In the first one it was looking up this street from the bottom. This is looking down it toward the approach to the Wailing wall plaza.
