Ayios Zacharias II, a photo from Dodekanisos, South Aegean

Photographer's Note

This is another aspect of the chapel of Ayios Zacharias, in Merikia, to the south-west of Leros. It was built in the 14th century but of the original much bigger church little remains.Today's chapel is a much newer building with a very narrow and low entrance and a tiny window which allows little light in.
Since Marion and Georgios asked me, inside it is very plain. There is no sanctuary, only a niche about 1.30m from the ground painted with the brightest yellow and blue colours and ornated with some icons. There is almost nothing else but many icons on the whitewashed walls, dedicated by local people.

I have a picture from inside on WS which I took while someone was standing in the doorway blocking the only source of light.
A few hundred of metres away is a closed sports centre where Leros hosted the final four of the dodecanese children's basketball championship. The lady in the picture is the grandma of one of the players.

Hello Ourania,
This is an interesting building with a stunning red and white upper part, above the natural coloured rough stones. The building is well balanced between the slightly cloudy sky and the steep hillside with its bushes.

mi piace il POV dal basso per fotografare la stessa costruzione presentata prima. Non hai trovato il modo di avvicinarti di più alla cappella rossa per vedere di tirare fuori un'immagine molto grafica? E' solo una mia curiosità... Molto belli anche in questo caso i colori e la luce, perfetta in quel momento.

An insight look on the lovely chapel, this time with a different perspective. Your low level POV combined with the preference of vertical framing has a great impact on the perception of this scenery. The chapel looks stronger than ever this time. I also very much liked the well defined color range, sharpness and clarity of this shot. Ουρανία γεια σου,
ωραία και αυτή η συμπληρωματική φωτογραφία από το εκκλησάκι του Αγίου Ζαζαρία.Ο επιλεγμένος χρωματισμός του τρούλου τον κάνει κάπως παράτερο για τα εκκλησάκια αυτού του είδους, αλλά τέλειο από φωτογραφικής απόψεως για το κοντράστ που προσφέρει.

Le chiese Ortodosse e le loro dedicazioni.
Dopo il 1000 DC un "frattura" nata da una parola greca "physis" e poi due mondi "uguali" che hanno camminato separati.
Questa chiesa meriterebbe una visita e uno studio profondo ed accurato.

A wider view follow the close-range picture, on the chapel, and here the red/white dome shown with a great contrast to the mountain's view, green onto the blue sky.
Clarity is super, as every stone and rock in fine texture.

una cappella davvero insolita e con colori sgargianti...come secondo me dovrebbero essere..costruzioni che portano allegria, molto bello il tuo POV basso, belli anche i colori e il loro contrasto e dettagli chiari in tutte le aeree, ho dato un occhiata anche al WS...hai rubato un momento di intimità...benfatto...
la foto è un pò piccolina..ho visto che è appena 600 pixel...ti sarà sicuramente sfuggito...
