Luxor Museum

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Two of my favourite museums are located in Egypt: the Nubian museum in Aswan and the Luxor museum.
True, the Egyptian museum is much larger and possesses incredible pieces.
The two smaller museums, however, create a very fitting, almost mythical atmosphere.
Everything presented here has the necessary space and the lighting is spot-on.
Except for photographers. You are not allowed to use a flash - nor a tripod. People with digital cameras will presumably just change their ISO-setting, - but for me a "high speed" film is anything beyond my usual 50 ASA Velvia.
So, I had to find another solution. The wardens were quite surprised when I unfolded my tin-foil reflector and, with the help of my girl friend, directed the little light there was towards the faces of the statues.
Obviously, this was not explicitly forbidden and I was allowed to continue.
As you see, using the golden side of the reflector and Fuji Velvia resulted in a color cast that I find quite attractive - so I didn't remove it in Paintshop Pro. |
